Part Time Employee - Northern Plains Regional Landfill

Recreation Director

The City of Spencer is now accepting applications for Recreation Director.  This is a Department Head Position, managing the entire City Parks, Forestry, Golf and Recreation Divisions.   Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:  Oversee and coordinate activities of the Park Superintendent, Golf Superintendent and Cemetery Superintendent; Prepare Budget; Recreational Programming; Long Term Planning; Purchasing Equipment and Supplies; Supervise Maintenance, Repair & Construction of Facilities and Work with Park Golf and Park Boards.  Desired minimum qualifications are:  Four Year College Degree or Major Course Work in Park, Recreation or Closely related curriculum or three years of supervisory/administrative experience in the management of a parks/recreation program or substituting completion of a Master’s Degree in Parks/Recreation Administration and one year of required experience.  The salary range for this position is $64,671-$77,872.  Applications may be completed at the City’s website.  Please attach a resume.  Application deadline is July 10, 2019.  Questions may be directed to Amanda Mack, City Manager at amack@spenceriowacity.com  or call City Hall, 712-580-7200.  Successful candidate will be required to pass drug screen prior to employment.  EOE

Solid Waste Operator

Solid Waste Division:  The City of Spencer is now accepting applications for Solid Waste Operator in the Solid Waste Division, a Collective Bargaining Position.  Responsible for  collecting solid waste and recycling, along with maintenance duties.  Basic computer skills are required.  Requires Class A or B CDL License.  Starting pay is $18.352-22.63 per hour, plus benefits.

Building Code Official

The City of Spencer is now accepting applications for Building Code Official in the Planning Department.  Essential Job Duty is to assist the Planning Director in enforcing Zoning Regulations.  Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:  electrical and plumbing inspections, maintain City maps, issue permits, enforce zoning, floodplain and sign regulations, research property boundaries and serve as the City’s designated Zoning Officer.  Desired minimum qualifications are:  High School and College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, driver’s license and must possess or obtain certification to perform residential and commercial plumbing and electrical inspections within 12 months of hire date. Code Compliance Assistant - Seasonal

The City of Spencer is accepting applications for a part-time seasonal position with the Planning/Code Enforcement Department. This position will have up to 20 flexible hrs/week and runs from May through September.  The applicant would be responsible to measure/inspect trees, bushes and grass in designated areas of town to determine compliance with local tree and grass ordinances and provide related documentation.  Job will require the applicant to be outside on a daily basis and includes driving, walking, standing and reaching. Candidate must have the ability to work safely, independently, accurately, and be able to interact courteously with the public.
