Renaissance Grant
Currently, the City is not accepting applications for the Renaissance Grant as we assess the future of the program.
When the Local Option Sales Tax was implemented, the City created the Renaissance Initiative grant program. The program was designed to annually support a variety of community projects and to encourage innovation in meeting the needs of a progressive community. The fund was envisioned where local groups could access dollars in order to design, plan and implement innovative projects or community activities not possible within the parameters of their annual budgets. The funding for the program comes from Local Option Sales Tax receipts.
Since the fall of 1999, the City has awarded over $462,000 for local projects and programs.
Applications are accepted twice a year for funding consideration, once in the spring and again in the fall. A 9 member committee reviews all applications received and makes recommendations for funding to the Spencer City Council.
The next round of applications are due Sunday, March 31 by 4:30 PM at Spencer City Hall. The application form is now available on the Forms page (Administration folder) and can also be accessed here. Instructions can also be found in the File Downloads section on the right hand side of this page. A new application form is required each funding cycle. Grant Guidelines can be downloaded on the Forms page. All application must be submitted using the electronic application form.
For questions regarding the application process or the Renaissance Grant Initiative in general, please contact City Hall.
